{Updates!}

I just wanted to share some developments from past posts.
{I know you're all dying to know.}

First off, T H A N K Y O U so much for your kind, caring words of support over the slow, painful death of my lights {see post here}. Keep me updated on whether any of you see these guys at your local World Market! I really appreciate it. They're like a child to me, you see.

Second...I did join the Bare Minerals society of, what I assume, very happy customers. I highly recommend it! I'm less oily throughout the day {you wanted to know that, right?}, my skin is more clear, & the color/coverage is fabulous. And, I converted another former Clinique girl!

And speaking of said Clinique girl...my good friend Meghan is engaged! She told me last night & I'm proud to say that she asked me to be a bridesmaid & help plan the big day. So look forward to lots of posts about her upcoming nuptials. I love a good party, afterall.

Now off to study...if I've been slacking on visiting everyone's lovely blogs I apologize. I've been a busy bee & have had some internet problems as well. Why oh why isn't the entire world wireless? Is it not too much to ask for in the year 2009? I had higher hopes!

{Mardi Gras Madness}

Well, not really.

Actually, it was a pretty dull Mardi Gras for Miss Piper J. I did cook a lot. Fat Tuesday, hello?! Although, what I made was actually somewhat healthy. What to take a look?

{Mmm, yellow chicken.}
In my desperate attempt at healthier eating habits, I made this chicken salad w/curry & other yummy things to eat for lunches throughout the week. {Oh, wait...since I'm currently eating a bag of pretzels & drinking a Propel at school does that mean I failed? Whoops.}

{Fish & Beans! Ahh, you can see the bite I took out of that tortilla!}
It wouldn't be Mardi Grizzle without some Louisiana-style chow...my attempt? Fish tacos w/pink mayonnaise & red beans and rice.

It was good. And filling. And I made it all from scratch, holy cow!! The original plan included a King's Cake & Hurricanes. The grocery store was sold out on the former & I didn't know how to make the latter. Red wine & dark chocolate worked out fine in their place, ha!

Now I must go to my Rat-lab...I hope that you all have a fun Mardi Gras & are enjoying a lovely Ash Wednesday {if that's your forte}.

{Lighting Emergency!}

I'm in a panic. My favorite light is burning out. O U T !

The light I speak of is my branch of cherry blossom lights from World Market. Okay, I knew they wouldn't last forever. But guess what? World Market is closing all their Omaha stores! And the lights cannot seem to be purchased online! I'm having trouble finding something similar {that isn't in the UK or whatnot}.

{See?! Some of the branches are going out.}
And the description states: "Due to straight-line construction, if one bulb burns out the rest will remain lit." Liars!

So, what do I do? Do I start harassing other World Market stores? Have an electrician take a look at them {desperate much...}? Give up & let them die?

I'm so sad.

{Oh, Old Navy!}

{One would not be a trendy lady without a pair of rain boots this Spring...}
Old Navy just keeps surprising me. Pleasantly, at least. Or, maybe I'm just so focused on Spring right now that anything they pump out can do no wrong by me. Whatever, I think their stuff is cute. One thing I love that they are doing more & more of is shoes....ahh, shoes.

{Shiny gold sandals.}
They've got all the Spring trends covered - see, you can be trendy without breaking the bank! And while they may not be the best quality, if at the end of summer your once gorgeous new shoe is looking a little shabby....toss it! No loss there - none of these cost over $25.

{Colorful flats.}

{Flip flops.}
It is Old Navy, afterall. You can't get through Spring/Summer without some flip flops.

{Bright, patent pumps.}
If flip flops aren't your thing - peep-toe pumps must be, right?

{Even the sunglasses are cute!}
Try & keep me from a pair of oversized sunglasses, I dare you.

Alright, I've exhausted myself. Go, shop, be productive!
Oh, & Happy Sunday.

{Art Opening}

I'm really excited about this weekend. First off, it's the weekend. Bad things don't happen on the weekend {not true, but less likely}, fun happens. Fun.

{art by Tim McEvoy}
So, tonight is an opening reception for a local Omaha artist Tim McEvoy. It's called "Spring Break 4-Ever!" His art amazingly fun. Check out his website: www.goldensweatpants.com.

{Tim McEvoy's "Dissident Weiner"}
This is one of my favorite prints. He did a whole series a while back on 'dogs.

The last opening of his we went to was a great time, so I'm sure this one will be fun as well. Tomorrow night is another "opening" of sorts. It's the record-release party for a group of Omaha friends. Their band is called Ladyfinger (ne). You can check them out here: Ladyfingersucks.com.

My lovely friend Shelley at Mass for Shut-Ins actually just reviewed their latest album, "Dusk." Check it out here: The Shut-In Speaks!

Happy Friday & have a wonderful weekend!

{A New Look}

I was getting kind of bored. So I simplified things.
{Something I should be applying to my entire life.}

Anyway - my schedule continues to be busy. I spent all day reading super boring school material - so bad, in fact, that I don't want to torture you all with the subject I was having to invest myself in. I'm currently taking a break & watching The Simpsons, catching up on blogs, & trying to cheer myself up.

If you're also feeling a bit stressed, I'm sorry, & I offer the following "happy" photos to you as well!
{Photo via IMDB}
Here's a photo of Miss Emma Roberts from the movie Wild Child. Honestly never saw it or heard a damn thing about it - her outfit just makes me smile.

Even if you don't like cats, one must admit this photo is intriguing. Lovely K @ Blog Goggles had it up the other day & I've been fascinated ever since.

Everyone s Burberry, right? These are pretty much heaven if you're a true Burberry lover like me.

PS...tomorrow is Friday!

{Okay, I'm Ready...}

I'm back to blogging. The first round of exams are finally over. I was successful for the most part & am ready to prepare for midterms {already, ah!}.
{Roses from Conor}
So, Valentine's Day. I hope that everyone had a lovely day, but most importantly, are we ready to move on to the warmer weather holidays? {Memorial Day perhaps? Flag Day?} We had a mini-blizzard this weekend and I am D O N E with winter. So done, I don't even know what I am. Overdone. Like a tough steak.
{Bottle #1 - Moet - & baked escargot}
For V-tine's Day I must say Conor did go all out - as he put it, "I know the way to my baby's heart...booze." That's right, I received not 1, not 2, but 3 lovely bottles of champagne. We made appetizers, watched CSI Miami {romantic, right?}, & drank lots of lovely bubbly.
It was perfect.

{Bloody Friday the 13th Cupcakes}
Not too eventful, but the night before we HAD gone all out for our friend Aaron's birthday. His Friday the 13th Birthday party, no less. I paid for the excessive celebration all day Saturday. It was worth it.

Now, off to class & catching up on blogs!

{Busy Bee}

That's me.

I'm going to be a horrid blogger for a bit. I have studying to do.

It's not fun. I'd rather be doing most anything else, sigh. I shall think happy thoughts {in between thoughts of Myelin Sheaths & Nodes of Ranvier} about upcoming events...

{photo via CBS news}
...a wine & cheese party.

A birthday tea party.

And, the creme de la creme...the Kentucky Derby.

Cross your fingers for me - if I pass my tests, I'll give you all free therapy.

{Lilac = Spring}

It truly feels like Spring today. It's even above 50 degrees! Do you understand how exciting that is? Yesterday I was shopping around & noticed more lovely Spring themes in stores throughout Omaha. One color that I noticed a lot of is my very fave....lilac.
I love lilacs; they & peonies are definitely my favorite flowers
{due to their enticing scents & beautiful colors}.
So, when I think of Spring, I think of these two lovely blooms. Well, you can imagine my happiness at discovering these lilac-colored items...

{Both from J.Crew}

{A purple dress from Old Navy}

{Also Old Navy}

I hope that wherever you are, you're experiencing a little bit of Spring, too! And if not yet, sometime very soon. Have a great weekend!

{Taking the Mineral Plunge}

I've given in, succumbed, jumped on the bandwagon, whatever.

I'm ordering Bare Minerals. I know everyone & their dog has tried it, uses it, swears by it...here's the deal. I've worked for Clinique for the past 2 years & prior to that with Estee Lauder. I kind of dislike the idea & work that goes into the Bare Minerals, but I need something different.

That & I tried my friend Cassie's {Miss Happy Panda, who swears by it & still works for Clinique} & can admit that it gave great coverage & seemed to work pretty well on my oily {very breakout prone, lately} skin. Plus the Bisque concealer she raves about really is THAT good.

Oh, the reason for this change? My skin looks like that of a 12-year-old puberty victim. Why is this happening? I'm TOO OLD!

I did get a sample of these Peter Thomas Roth Max Complexion Pads a while back from Sephora & was amazed. I ran out & was too lazy to head all the way to West Omaha to buy more. Looks like that trip/journey will have to be taken tomorrow. Seriously, puberty.

Say a little prayer for my skin please, it needs all the support it can get.
As do I.

{Studying...Shopping?}

I school. Really, I do. But, I really, really dislike studying. I'll go to class, take notes, read books...but when it comes to studying, ick. No thank you.

This would be why I'm writing & shopping online rather than studying the Sociological Imagination.

I'm sure lots of you like Etsy...maybe even love it. I love this dress I found today on Ouma Clothing's Etsy page.

{Who doesn't want to dress like ballerina every day?}

{I love this one as well.}
If you're looking for something a little different, check out her page!
The pictures are gorgeous, too.

{Picture via VH-1}
One last thing...do any of you watch Tool Academy? I hope so. I just happened to catch them performing as a Glee Club. They were singing their "school song." Wow.

{The Weekend is Over?}

It's Monday night? I was at school all day? Wow, time flies.
My sister & I went shopping this weekend. We wore the same shoes on accident.
We went to a store here in Omaha called Gadgeteer that is fantastic! They had Verner Panton S chairs in every color. {Except pink...I want pink!}

{The candle holder was on my Target post! I love it!}
Speaking of pink...I got my adorable Pink Swap items from Jennifer at The Virginia Monologues! It was so much fun to open my box & read the lovely note from her. {Jennifer, yours is on its way, so keep an eye out!}

{Another package arrived this week as well!}
Look! It's my Ashley Brooke Designs stationary that I was awarded by Miss Muffy Martini. I was so excited to receive my cards, they are too cute...I cannot wait to start sending out more snail mail. She also wrote me the sweetest little note as well. I've received so much this week that I need to get crackin' myself! I'd forgotten how fun it is to get things in the mail....the real mail!

Okay, I'm exhausted. Oh, & Happy G-hog Day!
