A Fully Stocked Bar

I'd always figured you'd really grown up once you were able to keep a fully stocked bar in your house. This is something that tends to be quite difficult for people like me - once there's a new bottle of something in the house it tends to disappear quite quickly. Ask Conor. Oh wait, he's busy in the kitchen drinking all our scotch. Ha ha.
{A close-up of my sad excuse for a bar}
But seriously, I've lately been thinking about this idea of a "bar." I'm getting better! As of right now it's a very scotch-heavy bar due to Conor's late obsession, plus I myself am not a huge consumer of liquor (I veer towards champagne, wine, & beer).
{Look, more black & white decor! Go figure, huh?}
I did a little research & have determined that a simple, home bar should have the following liquors: blended whiskey, bourbon, brandy, gin, liqueurs (Kahlua, Grand Marnier, etc), rum, scotch, tequila, sherry, dry & sweet vermouth, & vodka. This is pretty basic. I'm not even close to basic. I'm like, sub-basic or something.

Oh well. You have to start somewhere! What do you all have in your home "bar?"
Is it super fabulous or are you on the same level as moi?
Do tell!

We have Old Charter (ick!) and sweet vermouth. The bourbon is for LC's daily drink, and the vermouth is for his dad to mix with the bourbon for a manhattan. His dad loves Manhattans.

I always envisioned having a great home bar too!! We don't have the right space for it now, but our next condo does, and it is one of the things I am looking forward to putting together. Great tips on how to perfect the home bar. Ours is so sad - vodka, bourbon, and some triple sec.

We have nice gin (Bombay and Tanqueray), Crown Royal, Firefly (delicious sweet tea-flavored vodka), regular vodka, tequila and a lot of good red wine which was donated by my parents, who have too much!

We are kind of stocked as of late but that's not always the case. I feel like you can easily get away with not having several different kinds of liquor if you have good mixers, lemons and limes, etc.

I love you black & white decor! Classy :) Your bar is more well-stocked than my bar! Seriously! I have patron, stoli vodka, a variety of beer (it's the bf's), and loads of nice wine (and some cheap wine too). haha! We are simple. Maybe I'm too simple with my vokda soda w/ a lemon or my glass of wine each night?!

I remember there being a fully stocked bar in my house growing up. My house with husband consists of wine, beer, hard cider and vodka. He drinks Jack, so we often have that too. I'm throwing a party next month, so I need to get crackin on the bar I guess!

Ha, I wish we could keep a full stocked bar. When we do have stuff we don't have mixers, go figure!

I have been wanting a good ol bar like this but we don't have one just yet that I really like.

I love the idea though although I feel like it would just make me want to drink more.

How sad am I that I don't have a bar?! Ha! Maybe when we move into a bigger place, but right now we barely have room for our essentials. Yours is looking gorgeous though already! XOXO

Haha! We're not big drinkers so we really have very little alcohol in our house. I have a half of a 2-6 of Vodka leftover from making vanilla at Christmas and a bottle of red wine! Yours looks beautiful though! Very grown up :)

My mother went to a winery for the first time in her 60 years of living last year, and was told the a delcious festival wine was limited and would not be made again, ever. She then bought four cases of thing, brought it home, along with 2 cases of mixed wines, and we're still drinking it! They're everywhere in the house from the liquor free "mini bar" to my parents bedroom closet! It's quite ridiclous!

PS-love the Target tray! I spotted it during my last visit there, but didn't get it. THat will change soon enough!

I adore you.

I always have wine in the house...because everything else is bought with a purpose in mind. Although right now my house is pretty boozy. {not for long}

I also want a fantastic home bar - maybe on a gilded rolling bar cart with a mirrored top. Wouldn't that be elegant? ;-) Right now, I have miscellaneous bottles of booze and not very many mixers. It's a little unsatisfying.

I think the longest we have had a stocked bar, sub basic as well, was one week. We just don't do well keeping stuff in the house. "Hey look! Bottles of booze! Let's drink!"

OK, Pipey~you know where OUR bar is! Above the washer and dryer! Just where a mom needs it! And I'm with Brandon~how can it be fully stocked and used at the same time!

LOVE the black and white decor!! We don't have a fully stocked bar. We drink whiskey so we have that and we just buy as need be! P.S. You have a new follower! :)
