Cupcakes & {Wild} Animals

Yesterday included both for moi.
Conor & I went out to Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo's Wildlife Safari to drive through the "wilds" of Nebraska.

{this bird almost succumbed under the Camry}
It was a great time & pretty hilarious as well. I highly suggest seeing if your part of the country has something similar. You drive around in a Jurassic Park-esque setting looking at animals from the relative safety of your vehicle.
There were hiking paths to black bears & timberwolves.

{they were kinda scary}
I also made cupcakes. Malted cupcakes...but I have to say that they didn't turn out too malty. Basically, they're a good, rich yellow cake with yummy chocolate icing.
Can't complain about that.

Here they are, sitting patiently in their cupcake carrier waiting to be eaten.
The recipe is Here! Next time I will try something with more malt powder perhaps. Or I'll just stick to eating Malted Milk balls...whatever.

Yum! I really need to cook/bake more. Although I would eat all of those cupcakes and then I would be in trouble.

Those cupcakes looks so delicious! And the Safari adventure sounds like fun, although I think seeing wolves that close might be a little scary.

Ooh I definitely want to try making these! Malt is my favorite - can you buy it at the grocery store or do you need to special-order it from a bakery?

Darn it, now I want a cupcake. And I'm trying to be so good right now because I ate everything in sight during my wedding week/vacation.

The safari park looks so cool! There is a huge park like this just a few miles from where my parents' live in Texas. It is so beautiful. I even hand-fed a giraffe!

Thank you so much for visiting my blog! I would be SO scared if I saw a wolf up close like that! I've only heard them in the forests before...which is also scary to hear their howling!

Mmmm those cupcakes look delicious too!

Have a lovely weekend :)

AH! I went there with my Cali cousin last summer. We boozed cruised through the park and stopped to smell the wild pot plants. It is hysterical. Especially if you had been in your Honda. A buffalot could have taken you out.

we have a place here called the Global Wildlife Center (it's right up the road from my IL's new house) and you can feed the animals from a covered wagon!

Scott & I went a few years ago and had a blast.
