Helpies!

I am in the process of attempting pommanders for the bridal shower I'm throwing in a few weeks. I am THE single more horrid pom-maker in the world. Have any of you made these beasts? Tips? What am I doing wrong? They look super gappy. Do I need more tissue? Should I give up? Have a pom-bonfire?

Martha Stewart sells some that you just pull apart and voila your got beautiful poms.

Although read the directions because the first one we pulled aparted we did all wrong and it looked so silly.

Ummm... we hate to correct you on this Miss S&C, but you are *not* the worst Pom-maker on the planet. That would be yours truly. The. Worst. Lilly Pulitzer does make pom-poms (we carry them), and I have seen the Martha ones as well, those are two options.

Sending you good Pom karma, along with the usual grins & giggles,
tp

The Martha Stewart Encyclopedia of Crafts has directions for pom poms, may not be the same exact style you're making - -but maybe you could pop into the bookstore and see if you're missing a step or something in making them?

whenever i've made them, i use a TON of tissue. probably 2x what they say. that was the key for me, to get rid of the droopy & gappy-ness. good luck!!!!

Patience. Acceptance of less than perfection. I think the home-madeness of the poms is what gives them such great character. I could totally see a pack of them flopping all around an outdoor wedding. I actually have five mini versions floating just out of reach of the kitties.

I would fluff them some more and pull the ones in the center closer together. We made these for my bridal shower last year and at first they looked dumb but with a little magic, they're great!
